Air Rifle Shooting at PACCAR

During 2016 the air rifle range at PACCAR was upgraded and we now have a heated, 6 lane competition standard range, including a wheelchair friendly lane.

During March a group of Scouts and Explorers completed the 8 week National Small Bore Rifle Association young person scheme air rifle course. We are now taking bookings for the next course which will run over 8 Thursday evenings (7.30pm to 9pm) commencing on April 20th. As well as the YPS award, Scouts will receive a Master at Arms Badge and Explorers will have worked towards the requirements of the Physical Recreation Activity Badge. The cost of the course is £40 per person payable in advance. Participants will need a permission form signed by their parent or carer to cover the duration of the course. Scouting uniform is not required.

We are also running Sunday afternoon open sessions to provide practice opportunities for Scouts and Explorers wishing to improve their shooting skills and also as a “taster” for young people who might be interested in joining a future NRSA course. The sessions are intended for individual Scouts or Explorers and will run from 3pm to 5pm. The cost is £3 per person payable on the day. Scouts or Explorers will need to bring a permission form (see attached) signed by their parent or carer. Scouting uniform is not required.

The next sessions are scheduled for:

Sunday 23rd April 3pm to 5pm

Sunday 21st May 3pm to 5pm

If you have any Scouts or Explorers that are interested in attending a course or taster session, please contact Jan Vanderplank at PACCAR (email jan@chalfont.org).

Also if there any leaders who hold an air rifle permit who would like to gain further experience by assisting on the course or taster sessions, please contact Jan.
